How does this image compressor work?+
Your browser redraws the image onto a canvas at the quality you pick and re-encodes it. Nothing is uploaded — the work happens on your device using standard web APIs.
Is my image uploaded to a server?+
No. Everything runs in your browser. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool will still work.
What image formats are supported?+
JPEG, PNG, and WebP. You can re-save each one in its original format or convert PNG to WebP for a smaller file.
What is the maximum file size?+
50 MB per image, up to 10 images at once.
How much can I compress?+
Typical photos shrink by 40–80% with the default 80% quality setting and no visible loss. PNGs with photographic content shrink the most when converted to WebP.
Why does my PNG get larger sometimes?+
PNG is lossless, so re-encoding already-optimized PNGs can increase size slightly. For photos saved as PNG, switching the output to WebP usually gives a dramatic reduction.
